The
Morphometry Center provides the basic equipment for two-dimensional
morphometrics: data acquisition and statistical analyses of various
paleontological and biological objects.
This approach allows for quantifying shape differences among
objects. It can be applied to study of phylogenetic relationships,
evolutionary patterns, biogeographical differences, etc.
Interpretations can be supported by quantitative comparisons
between shape variations and external parameters, such as paleoenvironmental
proxies.
The Morphometry Center is part of the GDR
2474 CNRS "Morphométrie et Evolution des Formes".
It has been financed by the
Région Rhône-Alpes (project Emergence "Rhythms,
modes and constraints of morphological evolution").]
